What does MoPOS do? [back to top]

MoPOS allows you to use a Windows Mobile based handheld barcode scanner to capture point of sale information along with credit card data in a disconnected state (no connection with the main database). Along with capturing sales information, MoPOS can capture, print, and digitally store signatures on the spot, manage inventory, and handle events such as weddings.

How does it work? [back to top]

MoPOS consists of both PC side and Windows Mobile based applications built with the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework. Data resides permanently in a SQL Server (or MSDE) database.

The PC side application is used as central point of command. Some functions of the PC side application are managing data (such as customer information, items, pricing, tax, etc), viewing sale and signature information, and to run a variety of reports.

When you wish to prepare a portable device for sales use, you dock it to a PC via an ActiveSync connection and load master file (item, customer, inventory, etc) data to it. When loading data to the portable you have the option to add inventory at that time, or you may load a saved par inventory if you have created one.

Once data is loaded to the portable you are ready to begin selling. A sale can go to a predefined account, or a cash/*credit card sale can be made. When an account or credit card sale is made, the customer is required to sign for the purchase on the screen (the signature is digitally stored) and a receipt can be printed on the spot containing the signature. Items can be added to a purchase by scanning a barcode if you have setup UPC codes for them on the PC side, or you can manually select the item from a dropdown on the screen. If you are tracking inventory, items sold will be automatically deducted from inventory. Inventory can be added and removed via the handheld as well. If users are required to login on the portable device, the user that made the sales or adjusted inventory will be tracked as well.

When you are done using a portable device, you once again connect it to the PC via ActiveSync, and sale data is transferred to the PC to be permanently stored. Once back on the PC, reports can be run, receipts re-printed and all data reviewed.

*Note that since the application is operating disconnected, credit card data will not be validated until data is brought back to the PC. This enables you to still capture and store credit card information digitally and accurately where real time card validation is not option.

How can MoPOS help my business? [back to top]

Although originally designed to capture purchases on golf course hospitality carts, MoPOS can be used anywhere a hard wired point of sale terminal isn't present.

The use of our system on your golf course can eliminate disputed member charges, lost sales records, eliminate cart inventory issues, decrease transaction time (thus decreasing the time of play and increasing revenue), eliminate re-keying of data, and generally increase profitability of hospitality cart sales overall.

Other uses of MoPOS could be for sidewalk sales, on-site repair work, or any location with a need for portable point of sale.
